HELP / F.A.Q.

General Info

What can I purchase from the Karaoke Store?
You can purchase thousands of licensed karaoke songs. The karaoke songs are re-recorded hit songs in the style of some of the best known artists in the world.

What is the difference between an audio and video file?
Audio files feature the audio track only, without scrolling lyrics. Video files feature both the audio track and a video of scrolling lyrics on a black background. The lyrics on the video feature colored cues played in time with the music and melody to help you sing along in time. When available, lead vocal tracks may also be offered for either audio or video versions. Also note that some karaoke songs may feature background vocal tracks.

How do you come up with your Most Popular and Top Songs categories?
We keep track of artist and individual tracks sales and compile a list of Most Popular and Top Songs by artist, song and genre.

I need additional help. How can I contact you?
You can contact us by emailing support@thekaraokechannel.com. Please indicate how we can assist you. If possible, include information regarding your system setup (PC/MAC, Windows 7/Vista/XP, OS X, Internet Explorer, Firefox, Safari).

When will I receive my order?
As soon as your purchase has been completed you will be able to download your purchased files to your computer. No shipment is necessary. See Downloads for more information.

File Formats

In what formats are the karaoke songs available?
Audio files are high quality (192 kbps) files in the MP3 format, the most common music file format for digital media devices. Video files are high quality (640 x 480) files available as MP4, WMV and MP3+G file formats.

  • Audio MP3 files work on an array of digital media devices including iPod, iPod touch and iPhone
  • Video MP4 files work on iPod classic, iPod nano v3, iPod touch, iPhone, Mac, Apple TV
  • Video WMV files work on Zune, Windows PC, X-Box 360, PS3
  • Video MP3+G files work on computers with additional karaoke software installed

When you purchase an audio song without lyrics, only the MP3 file will be included in your purchase.

When you purchase a video song (with scrolling lyrics), MP4, WMV and MP3+G (ZIP) files will be included in your purchase. You may choose to download any or all of these files.

Notes:

  • MP3, MP4 and WMV files should work on many other platforms (including mobile phones, other portable media devices, game consoles and DVD players), but are not directly supported. Check your device manual for compatibility.
  • MP3+G files are packaged in a .zip file containing the music (.mp3) and the lyrics (.cdg). The MP3+G files will work on Windows PC or Mac OS X computers with special karaoke software installed:
    • Windows PC: MP3+G files can be played back on Windows PCs using special karaoke such as software from Power Karaoke. Power Karaoke offers software products that allow you to playback MP3+G files with Windows Media Player or play and burn MP3+G files to CD+G for playback on most karaoke machines. Visit www.powerkaraoke.com for more information and product support.
    • Mac OS X computers: MP3+G files can be played back on Mac OS X systems using special software such as software from kJams. kJams offers software products to play the MP3+G songs on your computer or to burn the songs to CD+G for playback on most karaoke machines. Visit www.kjams.com for more information and product support.
    • Not all CD burners support burning CD+Gs. Please check your device manual for compatibility notes.
    • The MP3+G karaoke software products mentioned above are examples that are currently available. You may use other karaoke software that you are familiar with. The Karaoke Store is not associated with the manufacturers or producers of the karaoke software applications mentionned above and cannot provide support for such products.

How do I choose the format that I want?
When adding a karaoke song to your cart, select the version of the song that you want to download, either audio - without lyrics or video with scrolling lyrics (or add both versions to your cart if you want both). After purchasing the song, go to your Digital Locker and download the song in any (or all) of the available formats (MP3 for audio without lyrics, MP4, WMV or MP3+G for video with scrolling lyrics).

Do you compile CD+G discs?
The Karaoke Store offers karaoke songs for download only and does not compile CD+G discs.

Do the karaoke files in your store contain DRM?
No, the Karaoke Store does not include digital rights management software in the audio or video files it makes available for download.

Payment Information

What does the message Country/Credit Card Mismatch mean?
Our audio and video files are licensed on a per country basis. This means the same song may be available for download in one country, and not in another. When you purchase an audio or video file for download, we match the country of your IP address with the country your credit card was issued in. This message indicates one of the files you have added to your cart is not available in one of the countries identified by our query. Most times, the countries are the same, but if you are traveling, you may be unable to download certain songs.

What payment methods do you accept?
The Karaoke Store accepts the following major credit cards: Visa, MasterCard and American Express. We also accept instant payments made through PayPal.

What is PayPal?
PayPal is an online service allowing members to pay for goods and services online without disclosing financial information through credit cards, bank account, buyer credit or account balance. For more information about PayPal rates and membership packages, visit www.paypal.com.

Online Security

Is your website secure?
We employ the latest SSL encryption to secure your personal data and payment information. Our billing practices are designed to protect your privacy and limit access to your financial information. For example: we do not store credit card information after payment has been authenticated and processed. We will also never share your account details or history with a third party without your explicit permission.

Should I look out for hidden viruses in your files, like in other music web stores?
Unlike file-sharing services where the integrity and quality of the files swapped is not guaranteed and the copyright compliance hazy, the Karaoke Store produces its own high quality files and guarantees their quality and integrity, as well as the licensing.
